Numbers have always been a way to measure prestige and success. What we choose to count, however, has shifted over time.
Once, it was the number of cattle you owned or children you raised. Later, it became the years you’d studied or the positions you’d held. These numbers were tangible proof of the blood, sweat, and tears it took to bring a vision to life. They told a story of labor, legacy, and survival.
Now, in the age of social media, numbers have taken on a different power. They measure credibility in the digital space. They measure the success you’ve gotten in your niche. They crown voices as authorities in business, art, psychology or entertainment through followers, likes, and shares. As an influencer amasses a following, they are seen as the voice to trust.
But here’s the thing we forget: they all had a beginning.
A first post.
A week with three likes.
A time when no one knew their name, and they were just another dreamer sharing their work into the void.
Few start with millions; most start with a small audience who might just be a handful of friends. They build, they adapt, they keep showing up. And each journey? Completely unique. As yours will be.
When I started this newsletter, I didn’t feel like I had anything particularly impactful to say. What I did have was a lesson about Change, one that wouldn’t leave me alone until I put it into words. I didn’t want to plan too far ahead, afraid that overthinking would crush the dream before it started. So, when I wrote the first article, I tried not to think about what the next one would be. How could I imagine I would get to this 30th piece?
When you write back as my reader, it reminds me that I’m not alone. That these conversations I bleed onto paper aren’t just my private reflections — they’re the human experience. I learn just as much from you as you might learn from me.
And that brings a responsibility. I picture my subscribers as a classroom I’m speaking to. In that room, my words aren’t lost in the vastness of the internet; they land in hearts and minds. They echo back.
I’ve always thought of writing as sharing a piece of myself. Universe Unscripted began as my way of letting myself exist on the page. And with every article, I’ve had to return to the same questions:
Why am I writing?
Who am I writing for?
The honest answer? I’m still figuring it out. I only hope that it’s for a cause bigger than me — something that feeds me, but also reaches beyond me. I have to be patient to see what it truly is.
Of all the lessons I’ve learned this year, the one I want to press into your hands today is this:
Be patient with your beginning.
Don’t demand that your prototype be a perfect product. Show up for each stage of your journey. Every step — even the quiet, uncelebrated ones — matters. Your creations deserve to exist. They deserve to be shared. You were drawn to create for a reason. Take up space.
God has placed eternity in our hearts, which means we will never see the full picture from where we stand. But His grace is sufficient for each step. May we answer the call to be an echo of His glory, even when the echo is barely perceptible.
Thank you for being part of my journey through Universe Unscripted. Thank you for reminding me that behind the stats, there are souls. You are human. You are beautiful.
And now — a poem for you. It’s how I remind myself to see you, not the numbers.
Beyond the Screen
I once reduced you to a statistic,
A blinking number beyond my screen,
A character in a world of my own making.
I was so focused on the numbers
I forgot about you —
Beyond the screen,
Leaning into this page,
Absorbed in these words.
Each sentence branching into stories only your mind can see,
Building a world that blooms in your soul,
A world I cannot enter
One only you and God can walk through.
But in these moments, when your eyes meet my words,
Our timelines collide.
The universe holds its breath,
And with its exhale, we part.
We leave changed , even just a little,
Until the next collision.
Until then,
I will cherish you beyond the screen,
Because behind the statistic is a beautiful human.
I see you.
Thank you for being here.
